Unwin, Derick, Ed. (1969).  Media and Methods; Instructional Technology in Higher Education.

Since a need exists today for skillful teaching in higher education, many prominent educators have emphasized the necessity of professional teaching standards which incorporate appropriate educational media. The contents of this book are designed to serve as an introduction to various media and to allow individuals to follow up any medium which attracts their interest. The various chapters cover subjects such as general problems of technological development in higher education; the specific audiovisual equipment which can be used and the teaching methods which accompany them; research and applications of programed instruction as related to higher education; the "feedback classroom," a method for providing objective techniques for measuring the effects of alternative instructional techniques; the role and applications of television in higher education; the importance of educational technology in teacher training; the history and development of language laboratories in higher education; the usefulness of a systems approach for improving instruction; and types of learning spaces best suited for large and for small group instruction. The last two chapters discuss some promising developments in educational technology and view educational technology in the perspective of time.
