American College Testing Program, Iowa City, IA (1996). ACT Citizenship Test. (ETS# TC019864) The ACT Citizenship Test assesses knowledge about U.S. history and government and written English. It is designed for lawful permanent residents of the United States who need to fulfill requirements in these areas to become naturalized U.S. citizens. The test, administered by the American College Testing Program, consists of: 1) answering 20 multiple-choice questions about U.S. history and government; and 2) writing two simple sentences in English from a dictation given in English. To pass the test, candidates must answer at least 12 of the 20 questions correctly. Education Commission of the States, Denver, Colo. (1978). Consumer Skills Items. (ETS# TC013067) This is a collection of consumer skills items for state and local education agencies to draw upon in composing consumer skills instruments. It provides items to assess seventeen-year-olds' consumer skills. The items are classified under eight major topics: behavior, contracts, economics, energy, finances, mathematics, projection, and purchases. Items classified as miscellaneous make up a ninth topic, and background questions constitute a tenth topic. There are also subtopics. For example, subtopics under behavior include advertising, decision making, and shopping, All items are assigned numbers which refer to the topic and subtopic. Most items are multiple choice. (ETS# TC019754) The Hare Psychopathy Checklist: Screening Version (PCL:SV) is designed to screen for the possible presence of psychopathy for forensic and correctional populations. The Hare PCL:SV is a 12-item scale based on a subset of the Hare Psychopathy Checklist Revised (PCL-R). The PCL-SV can be completed in under 90 minutes hours. The student has 3 minutes to look over a passage and then is required to read it aloud. The final section of the test, Fluency, is a free-response section. In the Fluency I section the student chooses one of two pictures to describe in French; in the Fluency 2 section, there are 3 pictures from which to choose and then describe what is happening in the picture. In the first section students are given pictures and are asked to listen to three words and pick the one corresponding to the pictures. The second section is meant to discover whether the students understand what they hear. They listen to a tape asking questions and the students are to choose the corresponding sentence in their native language. In the dictation section, a short piece of prose is read and the students are to write it as they have heard it. This test is for Population II which consists of students aged 14 to 15 years. The test is in 4 parts and the students listen to the questions on a tape recorder and mark their answer on an answer sheet. Section II is recognition of meaning though intonation. In this section a question is asked in the students' native language and they determine the answer to the question by listening to the way the voice rises and falls in the three sentences. In section III, listening comprehension, the students listen to a sentence or short paragraph and select from their book the one they heard. (ETS# TC019382) The Graduate Stress Inventory-Revised (GSI-R) was designed to measure the degree to which graduate students perceive situations particular to the graduate school experience to be stressful.
